ASTM A618 High-Strength Low-Alloy Steel Tubing Specification:
Seamless square pipe:12*12*0.8mm-280*280*18mmWelded rectangular pipe: 10*5*0.8mm-400*200*14mm
ASTM A618 Standard is a specification for Hot-Formed Welded and Seamless High-Strength Low-Alloy Structural Tubing covers grades of hot-formed welded and seamless high-strength low-alloy square, rectangular, round, or special shape. ASTM A618 Grade II alloy steel structural tubing is applied in the welded, riveted, or bolted construction of bridges and buildings and for general structural purposes. These grades are: Grade Ia and Ib; Grade II; and Grade III. When ASTM A618 Grade II tubing is used in welded construction, the welding procedure shall be suitable for the steel and the intended service.
ASTM A618 high-strength low-alloy steel tubing shall be made by the seamless, furnace-buttwelded (continuous-welded), or hot-stretch-reduced electric-resistance-welded process. If the results of the mechanical tests representing any heat do not conform to a requirement, retests shall be made.
What are the advantages of ASTM A618 II alloy steel tubing in relation to the open sections?
- better static characteristics- lighter construction (about 30% less weight)
- smaller surface (it is necessary to protect about 40% less surface area)
- less resistance to air and liquids
- usable interior space (concrete, cables, wires, pipes ...)
- better visual effect
