Hot rolling process reduces the thickness to between 2mm and 50mm. Once cooled the plate is cut to length and the coil is sold or further processed through the cold rolling mills. The process to create Hot Rolled Steel creates a more ductile steel with a rough surface finish and is sometimes more difficult to machine. The cost is usually much less than a similar Cold Rolled product.
